- On the sketch workspace, select a staircase.
- Click Properties
to open the Staircase
Properties dialog box.
- In the Ceiling group, select a Ceiling Type.
- Enter the dimensions for the ceiling height at the base and the
top of the stairs.
- Click anywhere on the sketch workspace to close the Properties
dialog box and save your changes.
- On the sketch workspace, select a staircase.
- Click Properties
to open the Staircase
Properties dialog box.
- In the Construction group, in the Staircase Framing box, select
Framed.
- In the Framing group, click Framing.
- In the Staircase Framing window, you can select from the following
options:
- Type and number of stringers
- Type of risers
- Type of rough treads
- Type of finished treads
- Type of starting step
- Type of skirt/apron
- Click OK to save your changes.
- Click the Staircase arrow
on the Sketch ribbon, and select Custom.
- Press Tab on the keyboard
to rotate the custom stair tool
- Click on the sketch workspace to set the first step for a flight
of stairs.
- Click again to set the last step. A custom landing appears.
- Press Escape to remove
the landing and create your stairs. Or, move your cursor to adjust
the size and shape of the landing.
- Click to set the landing.
- Press Escape to create
your stairs with landing. Or, move your cursor to create another flight
of stairs, and repeat steps 4 and 6 until you have completed your
stairs.
- Click the Staircase arrow
on the Sketch ribbon, and select a staircase type. An outline
of the staircase appears.
Press spacebar to switch
staircase types.
- Press Tab to rotate the
staircase.
- Click to create the staircase.
- Click the Staircase arrow
on the Sketch ribbon, and select Custom.
- Press Tab on the keyboard
to rotate the custom stair tool.
- Move the custom stair tool next to a wall. The first step will
snap into place on the wall.
- Click to set the first step.
- Click again to set the last step. A custom landing appears.
- Press Escape to remove
the landing and create your stairs. Or, move your cursor to adjust
the size and shape of the landing.
- Click to set the landing.
- Press Escape to create
your stairs with landing. Or, move your cursor to create another flight
of stairs, and repeat steps 4 and 6 until you have completed your
stairs.
- On the sketch workspace, select a staircase.
- Click and drag a side of the staircase, just as you would when
resizing a room.
You can also use the square break and vertex tools to reshape the staircase.
- On the Sketch tab, click Options.
- Click Preferences
.
- In the navigation menu on the left, in the Place group, click,
click Custom Staircase Defaults.
- You can adjust the following settings:
- Staircase width
- Desired Riser Height
- Desired Tread Depth
- Default Wall Type
- Label visibility
- Click OK to save your settings.
- On the sketch workspace, select a staircase.
- Click Flip Horizontal
or Flip Vertical
in the Sketch ribbon.
- On the sketch workspace, select a staircase.
- Click the Rotate arrow
to select a rotation method from the following options:
- Rotate 22.4 – Rotate the selected object 22.5 degrees clockwise
each time you click Rotate.
- Rotate 45 – Rotates the selected object 45 degrees
- Rotate 90 – Rotates the selected object 90 degrees
- Free Rotate – Allows you to click and drag to rotate the selected
object manually
- Ortho Rotate – Click to draw an angle on the sketch workspace.
Click again to rotate the selected object.
- Click View
and select Rooms
below Stairs.
- Use Graphical Estimation to add line items.
- To return to the sketch, click View
,
and select Rooms Below Stairs.
- Add a level above the staircase that you want to copy.
- Select the upper level, and click Copy
from Underlay
.
- Click the outline of the staircase you want to copy.
- On the sketch workspace, select a staircase.
- Click Copy
or Cut
.
- Click Paste
. An outline of the copied
staircase appears on the sketch workspace.
- Click to place the staircase.
- On the sketch workspace select a staircase or staircase landing.
- Click Properties
to open the Staircase
Properties dialog box.
- In the Construction group, in the Staircase Framing box, select
Framed.
- In the Staircase group, in the Angled Treads box, select Yes. The angled tread tool appears
on the sketch workspace.
- Click the angled tread crosshairs.
- Drag the crosshairs to the desired angle.
When the tread is inserted into the staircase, the existing tread heights
are automatically adjusted to compensate.
- Create a custom or regular staircase.
- Select a staircase wall.
- Click Properties
to open the Staircase
Wall Properties dialog box.
- Under the General group, in the Arced Wall, select Yes.
- Click and drag the wall to the correct arc dimension.
- Follow steps 2-5 to create an arc on the opposite wall of the staircase.
- Create a custom or regular staircase.
- Click Vertex
.
- Click one wall of the staircase to add a pivot point. Then drag
the red diamond at the bottom of the wall to create a flare.
- Click the angled wall, and then click Properties
.
- Under the General group, in the Arced Wall, select Yes.
- Click the blue square on the flared portion of the wall, and drag
the wall to the correct arc dimension.
- Add an angle and arc to the opposite wall to finish the flared
staircase.
- Add a staircase to the exterior
of a structure.
- Click the staircase, and then click
Properties
.
- Under the Staircase group, in the
Exterior box, select Yes.
- Click anywhere on the Sketch
Workspace to close the Properties dialog box and save your changes.
