INTRODUCTION

Now that Xactimate is set up and ready to go, you'll need to understand how to create and scope an estimate. The following scenario will help you understand the Xactimate workflow so you can create your first estimate.

Create a new project

Christina Travers of Orem, Utah calls about a small kitchen fire. This kitchen fire was quickly contained, but there is smoke and water damage to all rooms on the main floor of the house. You've completed the on-site scope (including all the needed dimensions), and you are ready to enter the estimate in Xactimate.

  1. Launch Xactimate and log in.
  2. Type Travers in the Recent Project box, and click Add New Project. Your new estimate will open.
  3. Leave Property as the address type and Home as the phone type. Type the following information:
  4. The Date Entered will be populated automatically. Double-click the other date boxes to populate them with the current date.
  5. In the Personnel group, click the Claim Rep box, and click Add.
  6. Enter the following information:
  7. Click OK.
  8. Select Troy David, and click OK.

Add Coverage/Loss Information

  1. Click Coverage/Loss.
  2. In Claim Number, type 1234567891.
  3. In Type of Loss, select Fire.
  4. In Cause of Loss, select Cooking.
  5. Click Parameters at the top of the page.
  6. Under Pricing in Price List, select Training.
  7. If prompted, select a sales tax jurisdiction level.
  8. Under Add Ons, ensure Cumulative Overhead and Profit is selected.
  9. Type 10 in Overhead and 10 in Profit.
  10. Under Report Text, in the Opening Statement group, click Edit.
  11. Type This estimate is valid for 30 days.
  12. Highlight 30, and click Bold .
  13. Click File, and select Save. Then click File, and select Exit.
